Workshop Overview
This is the fourth annual Distance Education Technologies (DET) Workshop, sponsored by Athabasca University's Centre for Distance Education (CDE).
Like the first three, the goal of DET 2001 Workshop is to provide a forum for participants to observe firsthand how various technologies are being applied in distance education and training today.
Although CDE students are the primary audience for the DET 2001 Workshop, non-students are permitted to attend as space permits. (Non-students may begin applying for DET 2001 after February 16, 2001, the student reserved registration closing date.)
- Current technology applications in education and training (Lotus Notes, WebCT, CML, XML/SGML/HTML, Linux, others)
- NetMeeting, Firetalk (IP audio)
- Evaluating technology innovations
- Instructional systems development
- Designing and converting materials for online delivery
- Virtual schools & teaching practices
- Labs and learning centres
- Managing CMC conferences
Workshop registration is limited. Until February 16, 2001, registration for the workshop is restricted to currently registered CDE students. After that date the workshop will be opened to non-CDE students, as space permits.
