Flexible Program Options

To support Athabasca University’s mission to broaden access to quality education, the Centre for Distance Education offers a unique opportunity for students to gain exposure to the field and experience with graduate level work.

Laddering into the MEd in Distance Education

Students who graduate from one of the CDE’s Post-Baccalaureate Certificate or Diploma programs may apply for admittance to the Master of Education in Distance Education. If admitted to the program they will be awarded advanced standing and granted credit for courses completed as part of their certificate or diploma. Upon graduation from the MEd (DE) program, the Masters designation will supersede the previous credential.

Non-program Students

Students not registered in a CDE program are welcome to register in courses as non-program students.

Students in graduate programs at other universities often take our courses as transfer credit in order to take advantage of our online course delivery.
