Coordinator for the Athabasca University MDE Program in Greece
Avgoustos Tsinakos holds a BSc in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and a MSc in Applied Artificial Intelligence from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. He received a MDE from Athabasca University in 2000 and in 2002 a PhD on Artificial Intelligence and Internet, from the University of Macedonia, Greece.
Most recently Professor Tsinakos has held the position of Head of Department of Industrial Informatics at University of Kavala Institute of Technology (2006-2009). Since 1998 he has been involved with a number of national research projects for the Greek Ministry and for the past three years he has been a member of the European Expert Evaluators Team, evaluating and reviewing European projects on the field of eContent & education.
Professor Tsinakos' research has focused on asynchronous and web based distance learning as well as mobile learning and the virtual learning environment. He has published several articles in his area of interest as well as participating in more than 32 national/international conferences as an invited speaker.
