Brad Eastman, M.Ed., Ph.D., has been involved in teaching and instructional design for twenty years. Brad now works as an independent consultant as a project manager and instructional designer. He has worked on projects for BC Hydro, BC Water and Waste Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and the Centre for Advanced Wood Processing at UBC, in addition to a number of other projects. As a member of the LeadOn Training Solutions team of consultants, he developed courseware for Cisco Systems' worldwide Systems Engineers ACCELERATE training program in the area of Storage Area Networks.
Brad has done presentations on best practices for online instructors, knowledge management, and building online communities of practice. He also teaches for the University of the Fraser Valley in the area of educational technology.
At the Distance Education and Technology department of the University of British Columbia where he worked as project manager for several years, Brad managed the work of course authors, graphic designers and web programmers to build, launch and revise new online courses. Brad was part of a team responsible for designing and teaching course materials for the Croatian Academic & Research Network’s new “Certificate in the Management of E-Learning.”
In his spare time (what little there is of it), Brad enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, and keeps fit by practicing the Korean martial art of Hapkido. Given that he spends so much time around computers, it’s not surprising that he’s always liked sci-fi. Like his daughters, he also enjoys paleontology.
