Doctoral Program
Policies and Guidelines

The Faculty of Graduate Studies establishes policies with regard to program operations and standards as well as student progress and achievement. The Centre for Distance Education tailors these general policies to reflect the unique needs and characteristics of the graduate programs being offered. The following policies apply to the Ed. D. (Distance Education) program.

Program Withdrawal

A student will normally be withdrawn from the Ed. D. program if ANY of the following conditions are present:

  1. The student has received a grade lower than B- in an EDDE course.
  2. The student has received two grades of B- in EDDE courses.
  3. The student has not completed two courses in each of Years 1 and 2, or
  4. Program and tuition fees are not paid in full or suitable
    arrangements met.

The Official Transcript will indicate that the student was withdrawn from the program.

Repeating a Course (Re-Enrollment)

In the event a student receives a grade of B-, B, or B+ in an EDDE course, the student will be permitted to re-enroll and repeat the course in its entirety, providing that the student is in good standing and pays the tuition fee for the course. The Official Transcript will indicate both course registrations and grades.

Re-Application to the Ed. D. Program

In the event a student has withdrawn voluntarily or been withdrawn from the program, the student may re-apply to the Ed. D. program after at least one (1) year has elapsed since the time of withdrawal.

In accordance with AU regulations, an expelled student is not permitted to re-apply to any program.
