Students who pursue the course-based route of the MEd (DE) will complete an e-portfolio as their capstone project.
E-portfolios are important tools for learning and assessment. They provide a means to foster reflective practice and to document students’ unique “learning journeys.” As the capstone experience in the course-based MEd (DE), the e-portfolio demonstrates students’ acquisition of the core competencies of the program in an integrated and comprehensive manner while exploring their growth as learners and as professionals.
E-portfolios are compiled using a set of web-based knowledge management and reflection tools. They are digital compilations in which ideas, information, arguments, and documents can be expressed in text, graphic, audio, and video formats. E-portfolios can be tagged, searched, archived, and displayed in multiple formats on a wide variety of presentation devices. They are dynamic, flexible, and evolving entities -- creating opportunities for feedback, annotation, and commentary.
Check out some sample e-portfolios from MEd (DE) alumni here.
MEd (DE) students are encouraged to develop their e-portfolio as they progress through their program using the Mahara portfolio e-lab. Use your MyAU login information to access Mahara. The E-portfolio Orientation and Development site serves as a resource to support students through the development process.
Students in the course-based route will complete their e-portfolio in MDDE 694: Capstone E-portfolio Project.
As the final requirement of their degree, students will be eligible to register in the three-credit MDDE 694 after completing 10 courses (30 credits), including the core requirements. Online registration is not available; please submit the manual registration form to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Upon successful completion of MDDE 694, students should be ready to graduate. Please see the Graduation page for more information.
