Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Distance Education Technology

Athabasca University's Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Distance Education Technology is a focused, 18-credit (six course) program designed to provide a solid grounding in the current principles and practices of technology use in distance education and training. The program structure and course content emphasize the concepts and skills required of practitioners who are employed as instructors, teachers, trainers, decision makers, planners, managers and administrators in distance education or "virtual" programs. The emphasis of the PBDDET is on the user of technology for the preparation, delivery, and management of instruction.

Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Instructional Design

The Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Instructional Design is an 18-credit program comprised of six (6) courses. For those who wish to pursue instructional design as a profession, this Post-Baccalaureate program provides more depth and breadth than the certificate.

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Instructional Design

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Instructional Design is a 9-credit program, comprised of three (3) courses. For those wanting to enhance their instructional design expertise, the Post-Baccalaureate program is an expedient way to obtain the appropriate skills and knowledge.

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Technology-Based Learning (New)

Athabasca University's Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Technology-Based Learning is a 9-credit program, comprised of three (3) courses. The certificate program is intended specifically for practitioners who are interested in:

  • models of technology use in distance education and training settings
  • application of teaching and learning theory to online technology implementations
  • current online learning theory and literature applied to distance uses of communications and delivery technologies
  • application of program evaluation concepts in distance education
  • implications for practice of research into online uses of technologies
