As distance education and online learning grows and evolves, the need for qualified, competent instructional designers is expanding. Professional instructional designers and educators with instructional design skills are in demand.
The Centre for Distance Education offers two programs designed to meet this need: the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Instructional Design (PBCID) and the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Instructional Design (PBDID). These programs are intended for practitioners who are interested in pursuing instructional design as a profession.
Both programs provide learners with a solid grounding in learning theories and research, up-to-date knowledge in instructional design, hands-on experience with current distance education technologies, and individualized student support. The certificate program consists of three core courses while the six-course diploma program affords students the opportunity to develop further expertise and pursue individual interests.
