Educational Technology

Educational technology is an ever expanding and developing field with changing needs. As distance education and technology-based learning evolves, practitioners are seeking technology-based tools in teaching and training. Professional educators with these skills are in high demand.

The Centre for Distance Education offers two programs designed to meet this need: the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Technology-Based Learning (PBCTBL) and the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Distance Education Technology (PBDDET). The PBCTBL and PBDDET programs provide usable skills and applicable knowledge in the use of educational technology for distance and virtual learning, along with a basic grounding in distance education concepts and principles. The certificate program consists of three courses while the six-course diploma program affords students the opportunity to develop further expertise.

In addition, the CDE offers an innovative solution for practicing teachers. Blended and Online Learning and Teaching (BOLT) is based off the PBCTBL curriculum and offers a series of one-credit modules that are scheduled to accommodate the school year.
