Course Overview
MDDE660 is a seminar course for students in the M.Ed. (Distance Education) program who wish to interact with the instructors, guests and other students in an unusual course where the learning results from interacting with experts in the field of distance education and the activities you undertake. This course will introduce participants to the major contributions being made to the field by today’s researchers. Each week, a professor or researcher will introduce his or her central contribution to the field.
Technologies Used: Throughout this "course" participants will use a variety of technologies, for example, blogs, Second Life, RSS Readers, UStream, etc. Course resources will be provided using gRSShopper and online seminars delivered using Adobe Connect and other software.
Course Activities
This type of course is called a ‘connectivist' course and is based on four major types of activity:
- Interact with the expert presenters in the MOOC course.
- Obtain current information on the use of technology in education and training.
- Select a topic in the course and elaborate on that topic.
- Contribute to the discussion in the MOOC course.
Organization and Schedule
This course will run for 13 weeks, refer to the weekly schedule of presentations on the MOOC website.
