Graduate Certificates & Diplomas

Instructional design and educational technology are at the forefront of the evolution occurring in education and training. The rapid increase in online, mobile, and blended learning opportunities has grown the demand for innovative professionals with specific expertise in distance education as well as an ability to grow and adapt to the needs of this dynamic field.

We offer four graduate certificate and diploma programs that are tailored to provide students with professional credentials that meet the needs of diverse employers. The certificate programs consist of three courses and are intended to provide a solid foundation of skills and knowledge. The diploma programs build off this foundation with three additional courses that allow students to select electives and pursue individual interests.

Instructional Design

Educational Technology

The certificate and diploma programs are built on the curriculum of the Master of Education (MEd) in Open, Digital, and Distance Education program. Students take their courses alongside MEd students, and are required to complete the same activities and achieve the same standard. Graduates from a certificate or diploma program may apply to ladder into the Master of Education in Open, Digital, and Distance Education.

Practicing K-12 educators interested in pursuing professional learning and a graduate credential might also consider the one-credit modules of Blended and Online Learning and Teaching (BOLT). These innovative offerings are scheduled counter to the intense times of the school year and provide further flexibility to students.
